Letters of Recommendation

When you ask someone to write a letter of recommendation, you should always first ask them in person. This allows them to let you know if they have the availability to write it by the time you need the letter, and gives them the opportunity to discuss further details with you, ensuring a quality recommendation.

When you input teacher and/or counselor contact information into an application, the organization automatically sends them a request for information about you. Make sure you follow-up with anyone whose contact information you use so that all the pieces of your application are completed on time.

Brag Sheet

Brag sheets are a way for students to document involvement in activities throughout high school, personal qualities and skills, and factors that make that individual unique. By providing a Brag Sheet to people you have requested a letter of recommendation from, you are giving them specific information to help them write a more detailed letter.

Brag Sheet template available here. Plan to complete this and give to anyone you request a letter of recommendation from!
